Dorna Sports is delighted to announce a new two-year contract with Scania, confirming the world-leading company as the Sustainable Truck Supplier of MotoGP™ in 2018 and 2019. Scania, headquartered in Södertälje, Sweden, first came on board with MotoGP™ in 2015 and this new deal sees the vehicle manufacturer continue to supply 14 tractor units for MotoGP™ operations.
The fleet use HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) and have done since 2017, cutting CO2 emissions by 90% compared to regular fuel. In addition, the partnership between SCANIA and MotoGP™ includes MotoGP VIP Village™ experiences – the perfect location to promote brands and business – as well as sustainability-focused digital content endorsing the shared values of both parties and a number of expositions in the MotoGP™ paddock.
“We are very pleased to partner Dorna in this project. Sustainable transport is available when partners such as Dorna and Scania accept the challenge, with close collaboration one of the keys. The Scania S500 and HVO are the perfect solution to the logistical needs of the paddock and Dorna have already begun the shift toward sustainability – a shift that Scania wants to lead,” says Renata Perucci, Presales, Marketing and Communication Director at Scania Ibérica.
“Our partnership with Scania is of great importance and we’re very happy to continue it for another two years,” says Pau Serracanta, Managing Director – Dorna Sports. “Sustainability is high on our agenda and having a partner like Scania on board is indispensable in our push towards reducing carbon emissions and making MotoGP greener and more sustainable than ever, year-on-year.”
The fleet now make their way to the Sachsenring for the German GP, where Scania Ambassador Marc Marquez has taken eight wins and pole positions in a row.
