Seal of approval “DLG-approved 2016” awarded to Mercedes-Benz Arocs 2051 AK 4×4

In every test category of the exacting DLG PowerMix transport test conducted by the German Agricultural Association (DLG), the Mercedes-Benz Arocs 2051 AK 4×4 has posted the lowest consumption figures ever achieved in this test procedure. In the stringent test procedure, which is closely based on the needs of real-world farming practice, the vehicle was therefore awarded the internationally renowned seal of approval “DLG-approved 2016”. While carrying out both light and heavy agricultural transport tasks, it consumes up to 23 percent less fuel than the average of all vehicles and tractors so far tested by the DLG PowerMix test procedure. In other words, the Arocs 2051 AK 4×4 is the undisputed Number One when it comes to fuel efficiency and overall energy balance.Mercedes-Benz ArocsThe PTO drive of the Mercedes-Benz Arocs 2051 AK 4×4 was also able to score in the DLG PowerMix test. On the PTO test rig, it impressed with a very high efficiency of 90 percent. The extremely low consumption values and high PTO output are documented in detail under DLG test report number 6416.

Fit for use in agriculture: the equipment of the PowerMix test vehicle
The Mercedes-Benz Arocs 2051 AK 4×4 tested by DLG is based on an off-road 12.8 litre tractor unit with all-wheel drive and Euro VI diesel engine OM 471, which delivers 375 kW/510 hp at 1800 rpm.

The Arocs 2051 AK 4×4 for the DLG PowerMix transport test featured an extensive agricultural equipment specification installed by authorised conversion partner Harald Bruhns GmbH. It comprises a rear PTO shaft with 1000 rpm, a load-sensing hydraulic system, eight rear hydraulic connections, four hydraulic control units for equipment operation and an ISOBUS terminal. The agriculture-specific equipment is rounded off by various trailer couplings and work lamps, a reversing camera as well as soil-friendly Terra wide tyres of size 560/60 R 22.5 on the front axle and 750/45 R 22.5 on the rear axle.

Number One ranking for the Arocs: extremely low specific fuel consumption
With the 24-tonne three-axle trailer prescribed by DLG, the Arocs 2051 AK 4×4 impressed with its low specific fuel consumption in the PowerMix transport test categories “light and heavy transport tasks” at speeds of 40, 50 and 60 km/h.

Its outstanding performance in the DLG PowerMix transport test shows that the Mercedes-Benz Arocs 2051 AK 4×4 represents an exceptionally cost-efficient solution for all agricultural transport tasks, its overall energy balance, even when fitted with wide tyres, being significantly superior to that of a standard tractor.Mercedes-Benz ArocsDLG PowerMix transport test: Europe-wide established test procedure
As a result of longer transport distances, growing farm sizes and increasing distances between farm and field, more and more importance is being attached to fuel consumption and load capacity in day-to-day farming practice. The DLG PowerMix transport test has been a Europe-wide established test procedure for many years. Conducted according to independent, uniformly defined testing and rating criteria, the standardised measuring procedure determines the output and specific fuel consumption of vehicles used in agriculture at full and part load – this being done with pinpoint accuracy in grams per kilowatt-hour. This leads to scientifically proven, objective and reproducible measurement results. The full test results can be viewed and downloaded on the DLG homepage as well as on the DLG PowerMix app. This provides farmers and contractors with a direct vehicle comparison with specific weighting of the various operating conditions on their particular farm.

At the request of manufacturers, the PowerMix transport test is carried out by DLG, Germany’s main agricultural association. The test procedure is conducted under standardised operating conditions and includes measurements of the PTO output and fuel efficiency during on-road driving.
