The SL Truck Sport team and Sascha Lenz publically unveiled their 2018 FIA European Truck Racing Championship contender last Friday.
The all-new MAN truck has seen the team invest a lot of time and effort over the long winter months to be in the best shape possible for Lenz to challenge for his first win in the FIA ETRC.
SL Trucksport, founded in 2015, is named after Silvia Lenz the Team Principal of the squad and mother of Sacha.
“It`s been quite a journey from 2015 to now,” said Lenz last Friday.
“We set up a new MAN truck in 2016 and we started collecting good points. We were thrilled when we just crossed the finish line eighth in the first race and being able to start from the pole from the reverse grid.
“Now we have the pace to set the fastest times in the qualifiying and Super Pole. We are evolving.”
“When we claimed the pole position at Le Mans last season, I wasn`t the only one crying tears of joy. When I think back I still do get tears in my eyes because the whole team was so emotional, ” explained Lenz.
The all-new truck, named Stella after the Greek word Stylia, features a fresh livery for 2018, a season in which Lenz believesthere will be significant competition for wins, podiums and points.
“Rivals for 2018 are stronger than before with Reinert, Lacko, Halm, Kursim, Faas, Hahn so the competition never sleeps. But nor do we. With our truck last year, we were inferior. But I`m more confident for this year. ”
“With the experience we have gathered over the last few years we believe we can be much faster with this new truck we have built up.”
Lenz also commented on ETRA’s involvement in the FIA ETRC as official organiser and promoter, saying: “It`s always difficult to come in to an existing series as a new promoter. Getting thins changed is always a challenge. But in the past two years the ETRA has already accomplished quite a bit. “
Lenz will partner with Rene Reinert in the teams’s title chase this season, something which he also did in 2016.
