Tsjechisch truckmerk Avia komt terug!

De Tsjechische truckfabrikant Avia komt weer terug, zo meldt CEO Martin Sustek op zijn LinkedIn-pagina: “The car manufacturer AVIA of Prelouc continues its preparations for the return to the market. In addition to the production of about 60 vehicles, which will be directed mainly to AVIA dealers as demo vehicles, AVIA also supplies spare parts on the market, which are of customers great interest. We will be in no hurry to return to the market. We want to be absolutely sure that we are delivering an excellent vehicle for a fair price. That is why we shall focus in the long term on the quality and optimization of processes and we want to continue to work on the production efficiency.”Avia is een Tsjechisch merk met, zoals de naam al verraadt roots in de vliegtuigbouw. De eerste trucks waren gebaseerd op de Saviem SG-serie, die bij ons ook wel als MAN verkocht werden. Na een overname door Daewoo werd er een eigen, nieuwe cabine ontwikkeld. Deze trucks zag je bij ons ook wel, vaak met een topsleeper vanuit Tsjechië. Er is in Nederland één exemplaar verkocht, aan Soeting uit Joure. Ook diende de D-serie als basis voor elektrische Smith trucks uit Engeland. Nadat de truckdivisie van Daewoo over werd genomen door Tata verdween de productie van Avia naar India, voor het compleet stopte. Mooi dat, de van Tatra afkomstige, Martin Sustek dit merk nu weer op poten wil zetten. Ik wens hem daarbij in ieder geval veel succes, Tatra kent al een revival op de Nederlandse markt, wellicht zit dat er voor Avia ook wel in.
